About KDL
Kentucky Data Link, Inc. ("KDL") is a wholly owned subsidiary of Q-Comm Corporation. Prior to 1998, KDL's sole focus was on constructing and operating a backbone network for its parent company. At calendar year end 1998, KDL operated and maintained a digital microwave network that extended from Paducah, Kentucky to Madisonville, Kentucky and a fiber-optic network that continued through Madisonville, Kentucky to Owensboro, Kentucky.
In 1998, Q-Comm expanded KDL's strategic focus and since then, it has emerged as a leading regional provider of leased long haul fiber-optic transmission capacity ("Wholesale Long Haul Services"). Its customer base now includes inter-exchange carriers, Internet service providers, competitive access providers, wireless companies, competitive local exchange companies, independent telcos, and video distribution companies that operate throughout the Mid-West and Central U.S.
Since 1998, KDL's network has grown to over 18,000 route miles. The company has plans to expand its fiber miles during 2007 by nearly 1,500 route miles. KDL's fiber-optic network now reaches points of presence ("POPs") in over 150 markets from Chicago, IL to Little Rock, AR to Atlanta, GA to Portsmouth, VA to Cleveland, OH to Minneapolis, MN to Bay City, MI and all areas in between. Not to mention a large concentration of 2nd and 3rd tier markets that adds significant density to the network.
In 2002, KDL standardized its transport platform on Cisco Systems optical SONET, earning KDL the Cisco Powered Network certification. In 2007 and beyond, KDL will further leverage its investment in state-of-the-art technology to offer additional services such as Ethernet, native protocol transport, wavelength services, and fiber connected distributed antenna systems.
In 2007 and beyond, KDL will be expanding its footprint into the states of Pennsylvania, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Michigan, as well as to Washington D.C. For more information on our current network and future expansion see our network map.
