John Greenbank
President
John, as President, manages and directs KDL’s engineering, construction, operations, and sales functions. Under his hands-on leadership, the KDL fiber network has grown from a start-up to now cover more than 25,000 route miles in 24 states. John joined the company in 1992 and has been a key advisor.
Previously, John worked in the telecom industry for 12 years, running the government contracts section of two interconnect companies. He was responsible for submitting applications and then project managing those awarded to completion.
Cole Hawks
Executive Vice President
Cole is actively involved in the management of KDL's business development and the company's contract negotiations and legal affairs. Along with John Greenbank, Cole has been intimately involved in the company's fiber network expansion. Cole joined the company in May of 1996.
Cole received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Economics, Summa Cum Laude, from Wichita State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Roger E. Domina
Vice President, Wholesale Sales
Roger is responsible for customer relationships and wholesale sales. He specifically oversees the account management functions that include working with carriers in support of meeting their needs for large amounts of bandwidth to serve their customer base.
Roger joined the parent company, Q-Comm Corporation, in May, 2004 serving as Vice President – Customer Operations until his current assignment which became effective in February, 2007. He has 35 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Previously Roger worked at Verizon/GTE, where he served in a number of capacities over his 32-year career including Director of Enterprise Field Operations. In this capacity, Roger was responsible for all facets of customer service for Verizon’s enterprise customers in their top markets.
Roger attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska.
Anthony J. Candelario
Corporate Counsel
Tony manages the legal and regulatory affairs of KDL. Tony has been intimately involved in obtaining the Company's CLEC and other regulatory certifications and has developed an expertise in negotiating interconnection agreements and pole attachment agreements.
Tony received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Kansas and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Before joining the company in October of 2001, Tony worked as corporate counsel for various public and private companies.
David Dobbs
Vice President, Outside Plant Engineering & Construction
David oversees the day-to-day operation of outside plant engineering, construction, cable maintenance, and project management for KDL’s fiber optic network.
David joined KDL in November, 2003. He has 20+ years of broad industry experience in project management and construction of fiber backbones, including route development, field mapping, CAD drawing, and permitting. While with KMC Telecom, David was instrumental in designing and constructing three city network builds primarily located on the East Coast and upper Midwest. These network builds included all associated backbone fiber and SONET rings.
In his most recent position as Project Manager with MCI, David was responsible for network design and project management of metropolitan access network builds in Baltimore, Richmond, and Washington D.C.
John Iber
Vice President of Operations
John manages the daily operation of KDL as Vice President of Operations. He leads the engineering, operation, maintenance, and service implementation functions. John joined the KDL team in April, 2005 and brings with him more than fifteen years of management experience.
John previously served as Chief Operations Officer at Manquehue Net where he was responsible for the repositioning and development of that CLEC in Santiago, Chile. He helped accomplish a successful merger, integration, and re-capitalization of the company. John held the position of Director of Fiber Operations at Williams Vyvx Services. During his tenure, John successfully implemented new systems software, created network planning and quality assurance teams, and related processes and standards.
John has also held various management positions with WorldCom/WilTel. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
David Triplett
Director, Optical Engineering
David joined KDL in October, 2003 to help manage the inside plant planning and optical engineering functions for the KDL network. Prior to joining the KDL team, he held a variety of network planning and engineering positions with MCI/WorldCom, WilTel, McLeod, and Reliance Infocomm.
In his most recent position with MCI/WorldCom, David served in network planning and engineering roles, helping to facilitate the mergers and network consolidations of WilTel and LDDS, WorldCom and MFS, and WorldCom and MCI. While working for WilTel and McLeod, he managed the facility planning process for network space and power, as well as network planning for both the switch and transport networks. While working for Reliance Infocomm, David worked overseas and provided network planning, engineering, and provisioning guidance to the company in their efforts to transition from network construction to operating their network.
David received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
Nate Miller
Director, Field Operations
Nate oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of KDL’s fiber optic network. He directs the installation of all Inside Plant equipment and the activation of new fiber routes and systems. He manages the POP collocation build out and augmentation process for new sites required for expansion of the KDL network.
Nate joined the KDL team in May, 2003 and has overseen the rapid growth of the network and field personnel since that time. Prior to joining KDL, he spent 23 years working in Operations for MCI. During his tenure there David progressed from entry level technician, through various management positions, to District Manager of Operations for Tennessee and Kentucky. His responsibilities at MCI included Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Switching and Field Service management.
Kevin D. Tanner
Director, Network Planning
Kevin is responsible for the planning and quality assurance of KDL’s fiber optic network, as well as overseeing the circuit engineering/provisioning organization. Kevin has more than 12 years of experience in a variety of engineering, planning, architecture, and network development positions with McLeodUSA, MCI WorldCom, and WilTel.
Most recently at McLeodUSA, Kevin was in charge of the Transport Network Engineering organization, which had responsibility for all transmission systems, digital cross-connects, multiplexers, and network synchronization elements. While at MCI WorldCom and WilTel, Kevin had responsibility for planning dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems, transmission systems, digital cross-connects, and multiplexers. Kevin also held positions in the Optics Engineering and Network Development organizations at WilTel.
Kevin received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.
Paul LaRose
Manager, Network Operations
Paul is responsible for overseeing the Network Operation Center. He has more than 23 years of experience as both a technician and supervisor in the telecom industry. Most recently at WilTel, he was a supervisor in their Network Control Center Transport department, which had responsibility for monitoring and maintaining all transmission systems. While at WilTel, Paul also supervised the Tier II Transport department and the Network Grooms department.
Paul has gained experience as a telecommunications technician with WilTel, WorldCom, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Air Force.
Russ Hall
Director, Special Projects
Russ has been with KDL since June, 1996 and has worked and managed many phases of the business including the NOC, Provisioning, Margin Assurance, Customer Service, Quoting, Grooms, and Network Planning. In his current role as Director of Special Projects, Russ is responsible for analyzing business units within KDL with an eye toward operational improvement and financial accountability.
Russ has been instrumental in KDL's growth and his strong operations and regulatory skills have served the Company well. He is also involved in network analysis, resulting in cost-saving opportunities for our Company and our customers.
Russ holds many telecommunications awards, certificates, and accreditations, and is an active leader in his community.
Rich Kelnhofer, Ph.D.
Director, Strategic Engineering
Rich manages KDL’s Strategic Engineering team. Prior to this role, he was Director of Operations at Norlight and was accountable for the day-to-day operations and reliability of Norlight's optical transmission systems and NOC.
Rich has worked as a Senior Research Scientist for Rockwell Automation and as an engineer for Midwestern Relay Company (MRC), designing analog and digital microwave communication systems. He is an adjunct faculty member at Marquette University, teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in Communication Systems, Information and Coding Theory, and Signal Processing.
Rich received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University. He is a Professional Engineer registered in the State of Wisconsin.
Bob Seger
Director, Service Activation
Bob has more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunication industry. Beginning in 1993 in the switchless reseller telecom environment, he was an operations manager for WATS/800 in Orlando. Bob moved to Evansville, Indiana in 1995 as Operations Manager for Telstar Communications, where he held positions as Director of Margin Assurance, Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, and Vice President of Local Services.
Joining KDL in 2003, Bob is currently Director of Service Activation which includes service delivery, pricing, and project management.
Terry J. Birk
Director, Customer Operations
Terry serves as KDL’s Director of Customer Operations. Prior to joining KDL, he spent 30 years in various roles at Norlight Telecommunications (formerly Midwestern Relay). He started out at Norlight in 1977 working as a Television Operations Center Technician in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Since that time, he has served as lead field technician in the Minnesota district, as Wisconsin District Manager, and as Manager of Microwave & Fiber Operations.
In 1996, Terry was appointed Director of Operations for the Norlight Network. In this role, he directed the Carrier Network Management Center, Norlight’s Network Planning & Provisioning Department and was responsible for all network field operations, maintenance, and inside plant construction. Prior to his current assignment, Terry served as Director of Transport Engineering.
Terry graduated from St. Paul Vocational Technical Institute in 1977 with a certificate in RF technology. He completed his studies for an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in 1994, and he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Management Science with a minor in TQM at Cardinal Strich University in 2000.
Bruce Speck
Director, OSP Engineering & Construction
Bruce joined KDL in September 2007; he oversees the daily operation of the outside plant, construction, engineering, and maintenance of the KDL fiber network. Bruce has more than 20 years in the industry that spans construction, maintenance, and engineering of basic POTS, broadband, and fiber. His background as a lineman, central office installer/maintenance tech, supervisor, and manager has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the KDL team.
Bruce spent fifteen years with Comcast Cablevision of Indianapolis and was instrumental in building the system from the ground floor. His managerial skills were used to establish a team of well-trained, knowledgeable, and qualified installers and technicians who maintained more than 3500 miles of cable and fiber. In addition, Bruce was responsible for building fiber network systems for private association groups to provide telephone, cable TV, and internet services to their respective groups.
Bruce is a graduate of ITT Technical Institute and attended Indiana University.
Bill Pigman
Director, Administration
Bill is responsible for all areas of administration for KDL, including accounts payable, billing, payroll, and margin assurance, and is actively involved in the management of the warehouse and all facilities-related activities.
Bill joined the KDL team in September, 2007 and has more than 20 years of management experience in finance, accounting, and treasury across a broad range of industries.
He graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with both a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Methods and a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
Bill Cook
Director, Project Management
Bill joined KDL in February 2008 and is responsible for managing OSP Project Management and Permitting. He is a seasoned telecommunications veteran with more than 19 years experience in business development, project management, and right-of-way permitting/acquisition. Bill has extensive experience developing fiber optic networks from conception through implementation to activation, including contract negotiations, customer interface, budget management, scheduling, regulatory affairs, and organizational management.
Prior to joining KDL, Bill held various management positions with MCI, GTE Internetworking, MFN, OnFiber/Qwest, and WV FiberNet/One Communications. Bill has a BA from the University of Mississippi and attended MBA programs at SMU and Rutgers University.
